Hugh’s designs and installs "state-of-the art" low voltage audio, video and control systems. Founded in 1953, life for Hugh’s started as a local TV & Radio retail store opened by Hubert Haight (hence the name “Hugh’s”). Plenty of Hudson Valley residents have purchased and serviced their family’s first televisions, Hi-Fi systems and turntables here.
1974 began our evolution into a full service audio/video and communications firm. The McNamara’s gained ownership and began to plan its future. Still functioning as a retail/repair establishment, we began offering other services like RF antennae installations and intercom repair.
In the 80’s, Hugh’s began working with large satellite systems, home entertainment, RF distribution and more. Big-Screen TVs were all the rage and VCRs were just emerging. Hugh’s even helped to support the Hudson Valley BBS. The BBS (Bulletin Board System) was a precursor to the Internet as we know it today. It allowed members to dial-up and share information based on a subscription.
The 90’s proved to be a turning point for Hugh’s. We became Hugh’s Our expanding services now extended into industrial and commercial clients. IBM, Texaco & CHG&E began asking for our experience in large satellites and other services. On the residential side large 3-tube CRT projectors were popular in home theater along with Dolby Surround Sound, the precursor to Dolby Pro Logic. Electronic Classrooms with AMX touch screens were being developed for Marist College putting cutting edge technology and capability in instructors hands.
That brings us to today. Up to this point we have performed multiple home theaters, electronic classrooms, auditoriums, RF distribution systems, conference rooms, whole house audio systems, presentation rooms and so much more. In 2011 we still provide our commercial, residential and institutional customers with the latest technologies and services. In the past few years we have witnessed vast changes in the industry. Our continuing effort to maintain our edge is apparent through the qualifications, education and experience we actively pursue.
