HomeVideo Conferencing

The ability to see and interact with others in a video conference call has been around for a while. However, there have been some stunning advances in the technology which has made the experience far more productive and versatile.

With the recent widespread migration to high-definition video in residential entertainment, it was only a matter of time before we would be video conferencing in HD as well. Systems today are capable of 1080p and support the creation of on screen layouts the user can populate with various sources like computers, HD cameras or videos. Users can then send these layouts to far end video conference participants for a truly multimedia collaboration experience.

Systems today also have more ways to get connected. It used to be that you would have to have two to four ISDN lines installed to accommodate a decent video conference codec. The additional expense alone to maintain ISDN lines could become prohibitive especially if your site had more than one codec. With the adoption of Ethernet as a transmission means and new compression technology, the codec can now use your sites built-in LAN infrastructure minimizing startup and maintenance costs meanwhile providing a rich user experience with multi-site and High-Definition capabilities.

Hugh’s has factory trained Tandberg technicians and we have experience with the various technologies and connection methods. Not only do we integrate Tandberg systems but we also commonly offer other popular manufacturers like Polycom as well.

The inclusion of a video conference system in an overall A/V design should always be hand in hand with the lighting and acoustic design.

The lighting alone has an incredible impact on the quality of the video as well as the general visibility of the call participants. Poor lighting in a video conference situation is a disaster especially when eye contact is imperative to gaining the trust of your clients.

The same goes for the acoustics of the environment. Special care should be taken so everyone can speak and be heard at normal levels. When the room is properly designed acoustically, speaking and listening will be comfortable and will complement the high definition images.

Luckily Hugh’s Has solutions to all the potential problems that may be encountered while designing and building a video conference suite or room. We offer lighting, furniture, acoustic treatments and analysis to make the system perform to your expectations.
